Food Service

Mason Consolidated School district participates in the USDA National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs, which means that all meals meet or exceed the guidelines and regulations for the School Meals Initiative for Healthy Children. Meal service includes both breakfast and lunch. Ala carte food items will also be available for purchase during breakfast and lunch periods.

We look forward to serving the students, parents and staff at Mason Consolidated Schools during the school year. Monthly Menus


Monthly menus will be posted in the hallways outside of the cafeterias in each of the three buildings and are also available electronically. The menu is subject to change due to conditions beyond our control.

 

Meal Pricing


As a participant in the National School Lunch Program, among other nutritional requirements, our district is required by law to re-evaluate the menu prices each year.
Prices for the 2016 - 2017 school year are:

Milk (grades K-12) $0.50
Breakfast (grades K-5) $1.10 ($.30 reduced)
Elementary Lunch (grades K-5) $2.50 ($.40 reduced)
Middle School/High School Breakfast (grades 6-12) $1.20 ($.30 reduced)
Middle School/High School Lunch (grades 6-12) $2.90 ($.40 reduced)
Adult Breakfast. $1.60
Adult Lunch $3.70


School Breakfast


Breakfast is offered daily for all students from 7:55 AM-8:15 AM in the elementary cafeteria, 7:10 AM-7:30 AM in the middle school hallway, and 7:15 AM-7:35 AM in the high school cafeteria. Studies show that school breakfast can improve test scores, make students more alert in class, and improve classroom behavior.


Free/Reduced Price Meal Applications


Families are encouraged to submit applications for free or reduced priced meals - this includes breakfast and lunch. If you have an internet connection available, you may find it more convenient to complete the application electronically. You are encouraged to use this secure online application method as it will speed up the processing of your application.


If families would prefer to print a paper copy of the application for free and reduced meals they can do so by clicking on this link or they may pick one up in the main office of any of the three school buildings.
If a student qualified for a free or reduced-price meal at the end of last school year, they will automatically receive free or reduced-price meals for the first 30 operating days of the school year. An application must be completed for each family wishing to receive free or reduced-price meals annually.

Meal Magic Point of Sale ® System


Mason Consolidated Schools uses a computerized sale system for breakfast and lunch sales, which greatly benefits students, parents and staff alike. Parents are reminded that the most efficient use of the Meal Magic® POS system is to put money on their child's account on a regular basis to insure sufficient funds available for meal sales.


Mason Consolidated Schools has begun to use an envelope system to process customer deposits. A pre- printed envelope, available in the main offices of all three school buildings, is to be completed with the students name, ID number, grade, and amount enclosed for deposit. Once complete, seal the envelope and place it in the deposit box. Deposits are accepted daily in the main office of each building. Deposits received after 8:15 AM at the Elementary school and 7:30 AM at the MS and HS will not be credited to the students account until the following day.

Summer Food Service Program (SFSP)


The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) ensures that low-income children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session. Mason Consolidated Schools does not offer a Summer Food Service Program. The information listed here is for informational purposes only.

Wellness Statement


The Board of Education recognizes that good nutrition and regular physical activity affect the health and well-being of the District's students. Furthermore, research concludes that there is a positive correlation between a student's health and well-being and his/her ability to learn. Moreover, schools can play an important role in the developmental process by which students establish their health and nutrition habits by providing nutritious meals and snacks through the schools' meal programs, by supporting the development of good eating habits, and by promoting increased physical activity both in and out of school. In accordance with Federal civil rights law and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) civil rights regulations and policies, the USDA, its Agencies, offices, and employees, and institutions participating in or administering USDA programs are prohibited from discriminating based on race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity in any program or activity conducted or funded by USDA.
